Lunar New Year Parade | Asian Night at Shea

The Chinese Lunar New Year is cause for very big celebration in Downtown Flushing. Each year community leaders host a wide array of events leading up to, during, and after the Lunar New Year that usher in the New Year. For many, the highlight of the holiday season is the annual Lunar New Year Parade that marches through the street-grid of Downtown Flushing, meandering through the various neighborhoods en route to its terminus at Flushing Mall.

The F&T Group is one of the primary sponsors for this event, working closely with the event organizers to ensure that everyone in attendance starts their year the right way, in hopes that the coming year will bring them health, prosperity, and happiness.

Long a fan of the New York Mets, Chairman / CEO Michael Lee understands the value the team's presence adds to Flushing and the importance of the local community for the Mets. Because many of the residents of Downtown Flushing rarely make the trip across the river to Shea, each year Mr. Lee is one of the main sponsors of Asian Night to encourage residents to attend Mets games.

By sponsoring Asian Night at Shea, thousands of fans from the local community are given tickets to attend the game for free. Because of his support, in May of 2006, Mr. Lee was honored with the Spirit Award and given the opportunity to throw out the First Pitch.
