A Sanrio-themed pop-up store recently opened at the Tangram shopping mall in Flushing , Queens , attracting a large number of community members and fans of all ages. On the opening day, although the official opening was scheduled for 10:00 AM, many nearby residents and young fans lined up in long queues outside the mall early in the morning, with the line stretching into the street before the doors even opened. The atmosphere was bustling and lively.
This pop-up store was a collaboration between Tianguang Mall and lifestyle brand MINISO, featuring popular characters such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Kuromi. The store was decorated in pink tones and cartoon elements, with dedicated character display areas and photo spots, attracting many parents and children to take pictures while shopping. City Councilor Huang Min-yi also visited the store on the 13th, taking photos with the Sanrio backdrop and enjoying the festivities with the public.

In interviews, many Flushing residents said that Sanrio characters were childhood memories, and they came specifically after learning that the pop-up store was opening near their homes. One person who got up early to queue mentioned that the store was already packed with people before it even opened, demonstrating the appeal of these classic characters. In addition to nostalgia, the store's prices are also quite down-to-earth, with many exquisite small items costing only a few dollars, and many household goods even maintaining single-digit prices. For many families, buying several items as small gifts won't feel like a financial burden.
The mall management stated that the purpose of holding such themed events is to bring more diverse leisure and consumption options to the Flushing community, especially hoping to attract more families and young people. To coincide with the opening day, a limited-edition Hello Kitty tote bag is offered with purchases over $65, while supplies last. It is understood that this Sanrio-themed pop-up store located in Tian Guang Mall will remain open until April 5th.
